Village of Granville
Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Project Phase II

This project consisted of Phase II wastewater treatment plant improvements.  The Village of Granville completed an upgrade to its wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in September of 2005 and its purpose was to increase flow capacity and improve the removal of phosphorus and ammonia.  In an effort to reduce the cost of the first plant upgrade, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) permitted the Village to only construct a portion of the phosphorous removal upgrade which included two additional clarifiers and a chemical addition system. It had been determined that further WWTP improvements were necessary to comply with its State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permitted phosphorous limitations.

The major components of the project included the following:

  • Two (2) tertiary cloth disk effluent filters
  • Improvements to building’s structure – new roof and insulation, new insulated walls, and mechanical appurtenances
  • Modifications to existing grit removal system
  • Emergency replacement of existing outfall structure in the Mettawee River

Village of Richfield Springs Wastewater Collection System and Treatment Facility Improvements Project

This project consisted of improvements to an existing 0.600 MGD activated sludge, tertiary treatment wastewater treatment facility to improve and rehabilitate existing unit processes.

The major components of the project included the following:

  • 16,975 LF Collection System Sewer Replacement
  • Miscellaneous Pretreatment Building Improvements, Including providing channel flow for sewage, new Automatic Bar Rack, Building enclosure, and explosion-proof Electrical Improvements
  • Replace Sewage Influent Pumps with High Efficiency Pumps and provide a new Pump Control Panel
  • Construction of a 120′ x 33′ building enclosure over existing Clarifier Tanks
  • Complete Rehabilitation of Mixed Media Filters (Aquarius Filters) and replacement of filter control panel
  • Removal of accumulated sludge found in Sludge Storage Lagoon
  • New 150′ x 75′ Reed Bed for Sludge Disposal (designed for up to 300,000 gal of sludge per year)
  • New 18 kW Roof-mounted Photovoltaic Electrical System
  • Miscellaneous Electrical Improvements, Including 200 KW Emergency Generator with Automatic Transfer Switch
  • Storm Sewer Improvements incl. multiple pipe road culvert crossings
Hamlet of Ashland Catskill Watershed Corporation Community Wastewater Management and Stormwater Retrofit Program

This current $7.7M project consists of a new community wastewater collection system, pumping stations, 26,000 GPD wastewater treatment plant and stormwater collection system improvements for a community in the West of Hudson New York City Watershed.

The major components of the project are the following:

  • 12,000 LF of small diameter gravity sewer system
  • 80 new septic tanks and lateral connections
  • 8 collection system septic tank effluent pump stations
  • 13,000 gallon Phosphorus Settling Tank
  • 26,000 gallon Recirculating Sand Filter Dosing Pump Station
  • 3- 50′ x 74′ Recirculating Sand Filters housed in a 186′ x 76′ Wood Framed Building
  • Post Recirculating Sand Filter Settling Tank, Clearwell Tank and Clean-in-Place Tank
  • Microfiltration Units
  • UV Disinfection System
  • WWTP Outfall Sewer to Batavia Kill
  • WWTP Site Work, Grading and Driveway including Concrete Box Culvert
  • Stormwater Treatment Facilities
Hamlet of Boiceville Catskill Watershed Corporation Community Wastewater Management and Stormwater Retrofit Programs

This $12.3M project consisted of a new community wastewater collection system, pumping station, wastewater treatment plant and stormwater collection system improvements for a community in the West of Hudson New York City Watershed, situated along the Esopus Creek in the Catskill Mountains, a tributary to the NYCDEP Ashokan Reservoir.

The major components of the project included the following:

  • Approximately 18,000 LF of 8″ PVC Collection Sewers with Lateral Stubs
  • 4″ HDPE Force Main and Pump Station
  • Small Grinder Pumping Stations
  • 12″– 24″ CPP Stormwater Collection Sewer Replacement
  • Stormwater Treatment Facilities
  • 75,000 gallon per day Sequencing Batch Reactor Wastewater Treatment Plant with Sand Filtration and Microfiltration
  • Sludge Dewatering and Handling Facilities
  • WWTP Outfall Sewer to Esopus Creek – Tributary to NYCDEP Ashokan Reservoir
Hamlet of Bloomville Catskill Watershed Corporation Community Wastewater Management Program

This $7.0M project consisted of a new wastewater collection system and treatment system for the Hamlet of Bloomville, a rural community of about 250 persons.

The major components of the project included the following:

  • 10,500 LF of 8″ Collection Sewers and 2,000 LF of 4″ Laterals
  • One (1) Collection System Pump Station with 1,200 LF of Polyethylene Force Main
  • Metering Manhole and Treatment Site Pump Station
  • Two (2) 30,000 Gallon Septic Tanks
  • Recirculating Sand Filters and Sand Filter and Control Building
  • Absorption Bed Dosing Pump Station and Associated Polyethylene Force Mains
  • 30,000 gpd Raised Cut-and-fill Soil Absorption Bed Subsurface Treatment and Disposal System
Village of Whitney Point Wastewater Collection System Phase II Project

This $2.8M project consisted of the extension of the existing wastewater collection system of gravity sewer to serve the remaining extremities of the Village.

The major components of the project included the following:

  • Approximately 9,700 LF of 8″ Diameter Gravity Sewer
  • Approximately 4,100 LF of 2″ Diameter Force Main
  • Approximately 650 LF of 1 1/4″ Diameter Force Main
  • Five (5) Duplex Grinder Pump Stations
  • One (1) Simplex Grinder Pump Station
Village of Whitney Point Wastewater Project

This $8.3M project consisted of the development of a new wastewater collection and treatment system of gravity sewer to serve a population of 1100.

The major components of the project included the following:

  • Approximately 36,000 LF Wastewater Collection System
  • Pumping Stations
  • 150,000 gpd Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) Treatment Plant
  • Hypochlorite Disinfection System
  • Sludge Handling Facilities
  • Control Building
